A group of writers who live in Alaska have gathered together to discuss the art and process of writing.  We discuss writing techniques, how to overcome writer's block, how to get published, networking with other writers, seminars and workshops, tips, and pointers about the solitary occupation of writing.

The Alaskan Writers group has crystallized my passion for writing.  I was swirling around with no direction.  Nobody around me appreciated what I was feeling about writing.  I felt hungry for writing but I didn't know which direction to go.  I may still not know the direction, but I feel like at least I am pointed in a direction.  And I feel like that when I have an idea that I will get a response here.  Feedback is very important to my creative process

At one time I had a mentor to my writing, but after he died, I felt totally lost.  I didn't ever want to write again because it only reminded me of my loss.  Tears well up in my eyes as I even think about those days

So when I saw that the domain alaskanwriters.com was available, it felt right to have it.

AlaskanWriters.com has become home to my writing weblog, "Writer's Block".  Since the Alaskan Writers group is private, I will post some of my thoughts that I write on the group here in my public weblog.

One thing that I've learned about my writing --I have to be writing to someone.  To just write to the thin air doesn't work for me.  The words flow when I know someone is listening.  The Alaskan Writers group has given me that ear
